The Catalyst 9200 and 9300 are both fixed enterprise access switches on Cisco IOS XE โ but they are built for different tiers. Here is how to decide.
Positioning
The 9200 is the cost-effective access layer for branch and mid-size campus. The 9300 is the flagship stackable access switch for the enterprise campus, with more performance headroom and features.
Stacking
- 9200 / 9200L: StackWise-160 / StackWise-80 (up to 8 units).
- 9300: StackWise-480 (up to 8 units) and StackPower for shared power redundancy.
If you need high inter-switch bandwidth and power resiliency in the stack, the 9300 wins clearly.
